Black Pepper Beef

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly

  • 2 cups of cut vegetables (mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, broccoli, etc.)

  • 1 bunch of scallions (the whites cut in 1/2 in. pieces, and the greens cut in 2-3in pieces)

  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • 4 tbsp of oil

Steak Marinade

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp salt

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp white vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp chicken bouillon

  • ½ cup water

  • 1 tbsp corn starch

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 tbsp minced ginger

Instructions:

  1. In small mixing bowl, combine steak and marinade ingredients. Mix well and let stand for 10 minutes.

  2. In another bowl, whisk together sauce ingredients and set aside.

  3. To a large wok or skillet, on high heat, add oil. Once the oil is hot, add the steak and let it cook about 3-4 minutes until no longer pink.

  4. Remove the steak from the wok and set aside.

  5. To the same pan, add the whites of your scallions and the black pepper. Saute for 1 minute, then add all of your chopped veggies.

  6. Once the veggies have softened only slightly (about 1-2 minutes), pour the sauce in the pan and let it cook for one minute.

  7. Once the sauce has thickened, add back the steak and cook for another minute until the steak is fully coated in the sauce.

  8. Remove from the heat and add the rest of the scallion greens.

  9. Serve with rice.
